Clinical Presentation
Before and after placement of a left-sided thoracostomy tube in a patient with left-sided pneumothorax. The patient had left-sided chest pain for the previous 3 days.

Imaging Findings
(A) Initial chest radiograph demonstrates a large left-sided pneumothorax (arrows). (B) After placement of a thoracostomy tube, radiograph shows significant re-expansion of the left lung with interval development of diff use parenchymal opacities in the same lung (asterisk).

• Re-expansion pulmonary edema (RPE):
