Imaging Findings
(A, B) Computed tomography of the chest demonstrates bilateral parenchymal opacities with air-space consolidation in the basilar and dependent aspects of the lungs (arrows). Small pleural effusions are also appreciated bilaterally.
Differential Diagnosis
• Heroin-induced pulmonary edema: Bilateral parenchymal opacities in a patient with a history of heroin overdose are a common presentation of heroin-induced pulmonary edema.
