FINDINGS Figure 280-1. Axial NCCT through the lateral ventricles. There is a large hypodensity (HU in the region of fat) (star) surrounded by thick irregular linear peripheral hyperdensity—calcification—(arrows) replacing the genu and body of the corpus callosum (CC). There is wide separation of the frontal horns.
DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS Midline cyst in agenesis of CC, lipoma in agenesis of CC, abscess.
DIAGNOSIS Lipoma in agenesis of CC.
DISCUSSION NCCT of intracranial (IC) lipomas present a well-defined hypodensity that does not enhance with contrast. Calcifications might be present peripherally as hyperdensity surrounding the hypodense lipoma mostly in the interhemispheric fissure or replacing the CC. Depending on the history, it may be pertinent to distinguish this hypodensity from pneumocephalus or midline cyst. Hounsfield measurement usually shows a lipoma in the range of −100 to −200 HU, air in pneumocephalus is usually in the range of −900 to −
