Clinical Presentation
A young adult woodworker with recurrent “asthma” attacks that begin while he is working. The respiratory symptoms abate if he stays at home.
Imaging Findings
(A, B) Computed tomography (CT) of the chest reveals ground-glass centrilobular nodules and a mild degree of bronchial wall thickening in a multilobar distribution. In some areas, more diff use ground-glass opacity is appreciated (circles).
Differential Diagnosis
• Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP): Centrilobular ground-glass nodules and patchy areas of ground-glass opacity are commonly seen in HP.
• Atypical infection: Viral infection and infection with Mycoplasma or Chlamydia
