Case 59 A 65-year-old woman presents with protein-losing enteropathy and marked weight loss. • Hyperplastic inflammatory (retention) polyps: This top diagnosis is associated with Canada-Cronkhite syndrome, which is rare. It has a distinctive clinical presentation consistent with this patient’s history. This patient’s age is also consistent with Canada-Cronkhite syndrome. • Hamartomatous polyps: These are the second choice as they are typically multiple and tend to spare the antrum, as in this case.
