Clinical Presentation
A 26-year-old woman presents with fever and abdominal pain.
(A) Infused pelvic computed tomography (CT) with oral contrast shows a round, low-density structure with curvilinear rim calcifications (arrows) within the cecum, surrounded by barium (arrowhead). (B) Adjacent caudal image shows this structure (arrow) to abut a lower round structure (arrowhead) with a thick, enhancing wall and central low density. (C) More caudal image shows this second structure to be tubular (arrowhead) and surrounded by fluid (arrow).
Differential Diagnosis
• Appendiceal mucocele, intussusception, and appendicitis:
