Clinical Presentation
A toddler with bowed legs.
(A) Frontal radiographs of both knees demonstrate cupping and fraying of the metaphyses of the long bones (arrows), widening of the physes, and diffuse osteopenia. (B) A radiograph of the patient’s hand, which is not necessary for diagnosis, demonstrates cupping and fraying of the metaphyses of the metacarpals (arrows) with subperiosteal linear lucencies.
