Clinical Presentation

A 16-year-old girl is brought to the emergency department after a skiing accident. She is hypotensive and tachycardic.

(A) Contrast-enhanced computed tomographic (CT) scan shows a grade 5 liver laceration (large arrow), a hepatic artery pseudoaneurysm (arrowhead), and acute blood in the perihepatic and perisplenic spaces (small arrows). (B) Contrast-enhanced CT scan shows successful coil embolization of the pseudoaneurysm (arrowhead).

Differential Diagnosis

• Traumatic hepatic laceration
