Gallbladder Adenocarcinoma


Related to long-standing chronic calculous cholecystitis, porcelain gallbladder, a condition of partial/complete gallbladder wall calcification associated with chronic inflammation, as well as PSC.

Two distinctive types are described: polypoid and infiltrative. The gallbladder fundus is the most common site, which may be confused with the fundal variant of adenomyoma.

Gallbladder adenocarcinoma is usually asymptomatic until the late stage, when the large, infiltrating mass causes obstructive jaundice due to external compression of the common bile duct.
