This patient has a slip of the left capital femoral epiphysis. It is accentuated on the frog-leg view.

Background

The pathology is effectively a slip or fracture through the physis of the hip.

Males are affected more commonly than females in a ratio of 2.4:1, and 25% are bilateral. Obesity is a risk factor. The condition occurs in the age range 10–16 years.

The slip is posteromedial. Remember this for interpretation of the radiograph.
