Imaging
Imaging findings related to shock or ↓ blood pressure
“Shock” bowel
Intense enhancement of normal bowel mucosa, highlighted by submucosal and mesenteric edema
“Shock” pancreas
Gland is intact (no fracture plane)
Peripancreatic fat spaces infiltrated by edema
Adrenal and renal enhancement
Often show intense and prolonged enhancement
“Collapsed cava” sign
IVC and renal veins appear flattened
Sign of hypovolemia usually
Spleen and liver
May be hypoperfused → hypoenhanced on CECT
Small aorta
May also be sign of severe hypovolemia
