Clinical Presentation
Rising bilirubin following left hepatic resection and hepaticojejunostomy for cholangiocarcinoma.
Sequential anterior imaging of the abdomen immediately following injection of Tc99m-mebrofenin demonstrates prompt clearance of radiotracer from the blood pool and homogeneous distribution throughout the right liver (left liver was removed). Prompt formation and extrahepatic passage of biliary activity is seen. Passage of some bile into bowel is noted, as well as a more focal collection below the right liver. Over time, tracer is seen to appear throughout the periphery of the abdomen (arrows).
Differential Diagnosis
• Biliary leak:
