134 The body of the meniscus resembles a bow tie on sagittal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). As the body of the meniscus averages 9 to 12 mm in width, on a sequential sagittal MRI done with 4 to 5 mm slice thickness, two bow ties should be seen in both the medial and lateral menisci.1
