Driven-Equilibrium Fourier Transformation (DEFT)

17 Driven-Equilibrium Fourier Transformation (DEFT)

Driven-equilibrium Fourier transformation (DEFT) is an MRI technique that incorporates the addition of RF pulses at the end of an echo train to drive residual, transverse magnetization back to the longitudinal axis instead of waiting for the time required for complete T1 relaxation. This technique is especially useful in situations where the TR for a given sequence would be set higher than what is required for the selected number of slices to wait for tissue relaxation.
