22 Fluid-Attenuated IR with Fat Saturation (FLAIR FS)


Fluid attenuated inversion recovery with fat saturation (FLAIR FS) takes advantage of the specific (long) relaxation time for pure fluid (cerebrospinal fluid [CSF]) and the shift in resonance frequency for adipose tissue to suppress the signal from both. The pulse diagram for this scan technique is illustrated at the top of Fig. 22.1
