Lipoma versus Liposarcoma


Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is useful in distinguishing simple lipomas from liposarcomas (Table 126.1). MRI is very specific in diagnosing simple lipomas. However, many lesions thought to represent well-differentiated liposarcoma are benign lipoma variants such as necrotic lipoma and chondroid lipoma.1
