135 Meniscal extrusion refers to the extension of the meniscus beyond the tibial margin. A significant degree of extrusion has been defined as >25% of meniscal width and >3 mm.1,2 The medial meniscus may be more prone to extrusion as it is more firmly attached to the joint capsule (by the deep medial collateral ligament) than the lateral meniscus, and thus would sublux when the medial capsule is displaced by an effusion or osteophyte.3 Absence of the meniscofemoral ligament(s) is associated with lateral meniscal extrusion when a lateral meniscal root tear occurs.4 Meniscal extrusion has been associated with numerous abnormalities
