107 In cases of potential retroperitoneal fibrosis, it may be difficult to differentiate between confluent retroperitoneal adenopathy (e.g., from lymphoma) and retroperitoneal fibrosis. It may also be difficult to differentiate idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis and fibrosis secondary to small retroperitoneal metastatic implants. Other diseases that can mimic retroperitoneal fibrosis are fibromatosis involving the retroperitoneum (usually associated with Gardner’s syndrome) and inflammatory pseudotumor, which is usually seen in children.1
