Thyroid sarcoma

These tumours are uncommon, but can be difficult to distinguish from anaplastic thyroid cancer or sarcomatoid variants of differentiated thyroid cancers. As they are radio-iodine insensitive, treatment is with surgery and external beam radiotherapy.
