27 The majority of pathology within the sinonasal region is benign, with the overwhelming pathology being inflammatory disease. Of malignancies, squamous cell carcinoma makes up the majority. Because there is considerable overlap between nasal lesions and sinus lesions, and sinus lesions can invade the nasal cavity and vice-versa, these lesions will be discussed together as sinonasal lesions. Many of these lesions cannot be differentiated on imaging; however, some broad generalizations can be made regarding sinonasal malignancy and inflammatory processes (Table 27.1).
