Squamous Ulcerated Carcinoma of the Tongue: Restaging After Chemotherapy

At the CT scan, a coarse solid mass extending to the right beyond the median raphe and the floor of the mouth can be seen. It is associated with retromandibular right nodal mass measuring more than a centimeter. A PET scan shows incomplete response to chemotherapy for the presence of residual lesional vitality. The right submandibular lymph node on CT scan size is increased, but has little metabolic activity, which is probably due to chemotherapy. This is also a useful element in the definition of subsequent therapeutic and prognostic strategy
