CASE 11 An elderly man with a history of prostate carcinoma presents for follow-up (Fig. 11.1). • A 20 mCi dose of 99mTc-MDP is administered intravenously. • Whole-body images of the skeleton are obtained 3 hours after tracer administration. • A 1024 × 256 matrix is used for whole-body images. • Emphasize the importance of oral hydration to improve soft tissue and bladder clearance. A whole-body image in the anterior projection (Fig. 11.1) shows diffuse mild uptake of tracer throughout the peritoneal cavity, with more focal moderate uptake within the periphery. Other uptake within the right acromioclavicular joint, right knee, and both midfeet appears to be arthritic/post-traumatic/degenerative.
