CASE 24 A 63-year-old man with a history of prostate cancer presents with increasing alkaline phosphatase and pain in the left chest wall (Fig. 24.1). • A 20 mCi dose of 99mTc-MDP is administered intravenously. • Whole-body images of the skeleton are obtained 3 hours after tracer administration. • A 1024 × 256 matrix is used for whole-body images. • Emphasize the importance of oral hydration to improve soft tissue and bladder clearance. The selected anterior view of the chest (Fig. 24.1) shows increased tracer uptake in the left axilla and in a left rib laterally. A large area of infiltrated tracer is seen in the left antecubital region.
