Bronchial Abnormalities
Most of the bronchi in patients with asthma have normal or decreased internal diameters. Bronchial wall thickening is common (44 to 92%). However, in -30 to 40% of adult patients with uncomplicated asthma, one or more bronchi are dilated. The bronchiectasis in patients with uncomplicated asthma typically is cylindrical, and the bronchoarterial diameter ratio is less than 1.5.
