Ultrasound imaging

In this chapter, the emphasis is on the use of ultrasound in imaging. However, above the levels used for diagnosis, it is used in various ways in the treatment of cancer and other conditions. These include lithotripsy, hyperthermia, drug activation and enhancement and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to ablate soft tissue.
