112 It is sometimes difficult to determine whether a pelvic mass is of uterine or ovarian origin. An ovarian origin is highly likely if the suspensory ligament1 or ovarian vein2 can be tracked to the mass. The gonadal veins often course along the lateral and dorsal border of an ovarian mass, with the branches wrapping around the mass. With uterine masses, the gonadal veins often show abrupt interruption at the lateral margin of the mass.3
