32-year-old woman with cough and dyspnea six months after being trapped in a burning house

Radiologic Findings

Inspiratory high-resolution chest CT (lung window) (Figs. 31.1A, 31.1B) demonstrates heterogeneous lung attenuation with geographic areas of low attenuation and intervening normal lung. Vessels within the areas of low attenuation appear reduced in caliber. Expiratory high-resolution CT (lung window) (Figs. 31.1C, 31.1D) shows accentuation of lung heterogeneity and increased contrast between the geographic areas of increased and decreased attenuation.
