Material and Methods
One hundred and thirty children (71 boys and 59 girls) who were referred for chest CT usually as part of a search for pulmonary metastases were included in this retrospective study (Table 6.1). Tracheal diameters and cross-sectional diameters were determined from each section (between vocal cords and carina) and averaged. Tracheal length was determined on the AP scout view and measured from the vocal cords to the carina (Fig. 6.1). There were no differences between boys and girls until age 14 to 16 years.
