The following structures should be viewed:
- Portal vein bifurcation
- Portal vein branches
After entering the liver the portal vein is divided in a similar way as the bifurcation of a road. This structure is known as the portal vein bifurcation. Further tilting of the probe in the caudal aspect reveals smaller ramifications which result from the right and the left branch of the portal vein (see image series 2a – d).
